FN vil fejre ’interreligiøs harmoni uge’ hvert år
FN’s general forsamling har sent i aftes ( red. 21.10.10) tilsluttet sig en konsensus resolution som skal sætte fokus på interreligiøst harmoni (Interfaith harmony week) den første uge i februar hvert år.
En af stifterne bag den historiske a Common word dialog brevet fra 2007, Jordaneren, Prins Ghazi bin Muhammad introduceret resolutionen der blev modtaget positivt. Kong Abdullah fra Jordan havde sidste måned i sin tale til General Forsamlingen talt varmt for sådan et initiativ.
Bin Muhammad understregede behovet for fornyet og forstærket dialog mellem alle verdensreligioner. Han mente at det var op til religionernes tilhængere at finde et remedium til det had og mistroiskhed der oppustet til vold og krig i verden. Bin Muhammad sagde at det var nødvendigt at engagere den ’stille majoritet’ af gejstlige til at involvere sig i fredsopbyggende aktiviteter.
Resolutionens hensigt er at give moralsk støtte til de mange initiativer der allerede eksisterer inden for interreligiøs dialog og forene bestræbelserne ved afholdelse af et årligt tema. Forslaget er frivilligt og ingen er bundet til at observere ugen. Forslaget ekskludere ingen individ, binder ingen, koster intet men modsat inkludere og forener alle, ifølge meddelelsen.
Både EU, Tyrkiet og Vatikanet gave deres verbal støtte til initiativet efter forslagets accept i FN.
